In March 2021, despite taking necessary safety measures, I contracted a coronavirus infection. I had been unknowingly exposed to it since I was around family.
I had no symptoms at first and continued my daily life, met a few family friends. The next day I felt weak but claimed it to be due to exhaustion. Later that night, I developed a high fever. I vividly remember panicking as I feared passing it on to my family, which I unfortunately did. My father tested positive, as well as ten other members of my family.
The following day, I got tested, and no points for guessing I tested positive. My quarantine began. Since I was young, I was kept in isolation at home itself, locked in my room. I had all the possible symptoms and was told to rest. Unfortunately, I had my final assignment submissions just two days after I tested positive. I was unable to rest as I was stressed about the assignments. Somehow, I managed to complete them on time. It wasn’t my best work, yet I was proud to have been productive and not giving up even in that situation.
Although, my health deteriorated after. I took 20 medicines a day and was told to get some tests done, which came back fine, and I continued my quarantine at home. I rested most of the time and spent my awake moments listening to songs, drawing, coloring, and talking to my relatives to keep my mind at peace. After completing my 14-day quarantine, I tested negative. I got out of my room with newfound respect towards my body and immunity for getting me out of such a situation.
Today, I am in proper health and feel fortunate to have had access to medical facilities. I have gratitude and utmost respect for my mother for being strong and caring for my father and me while locked at home. I also release how vital health is, and one should always take care of themselves.
