Fashion as an industry is based upon inspirations and influences. Many of these influences come from our day-to-day life, but in the recent absence of going out, ramp shows, and red carpets, our wardrobes got influenced mainly by what we see on the small screen. OTT platforms have introduced quite a few trends but unconsciously also helped new fashion trends gain traction with different audiences all over the world. Despite setting the said trends, the designer's outfits worn in the series saw a 200% increase in searches, thereby increasing sales.

A few of the popular series that dominate the stores include Emily in Paris, Bridgerton, The Crown, Money Heist, and now Squid Game.

Emily in Paris, a fashion-related Netflix series debuting in October, instantly turned heads and upped the views, buys for bucket hats and berets.

Bridgerton and the Crown were the real to reel royal life influences of the British monarchy. Bridgerton, a drama series with characters donning empire waist gowns, ruffled dresses, and elegant jewelry, has also been seen in recent collections. Empire waist dresses were spotted at the Erdem Spring/Summer 2021 collection with delicate floral prints paired with chunky platform sandals to keep it modern. It also saw a rise in demand for corsets and house dresses in breezy fabric, puff sleeves, and a flared silhouette.

The Crown, a series on the life of Princess Diana, brought back her iconic style of ruffles and the equestrian look, which appears on the runways with two-toned riding boots and tailored jackets.

Recently released thriller series like Money heist and Squid game targeting the younger audience got basic outfits like the overalls and tracksuits in unique, bold colors such as red and green respectively in trend.

With things now getting back to normal, these fashion inspirations will keep changing, but small screen fashion is here to stay for a while.
