When one thinks of a stylist in India, the name ‘Anaita Shroff Adajania’ pops up. Today, I will research and learn about her journey as a stylist and how she got here.
To those of you who are unaware, Anaita Shroff is an Indian fashion stylist and costume designer. She is also the Fashion Director for the Vogue India magazine.
Anaita was born in Mumbai and has established this career for herself without any formal fashion schooling. She initially graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and spent her teenage years around her grandfather’s bespoke tailoring shop. Then in 1996, she started her fashion career as a junior editor with Elle magazine before becoming Vogue’s fashion director.

Despite working for these esteemed magazines, Anaita is also a celebrity stylist in India’s infamous Bollywood world. She has worked her talent and design on significant Bollywood films such as Dhoom 2, Cocktail, etc. The outfits worn by the celebrities had started a trend and are till today considered to be iconic. She even styled Hollywood icon Kim Kardashian for the March 2018 Vogue India issue.
Anaita owns and runs a personal styling consultancy named ‘The Style Cell’ in Mumbai and has also been rewarded by acclaimed Indian award shows such as IIFA and MTV.
I have been looking up to her work ever since I can remember and hope to land a job exactly like hers, working for the world’s biggest movies, fashion magazines, and celebrities.
